💧 Completed Work Case Study: Ivybridge Drain Unblock & Repair

At Flux Sewer Ltd, we were recently called out to a property in Ivybridge, Devon, after the homeowner reported regular drain blockages occurring over the past six months.

🔍 Investigation & Diagnosis

Our engineers arrived on-site and began by unblocking the line to restore temporary flow. Using our CCTV drain survey equipment, we discovered multiple structural defects along the main drain run. The key issue turned out to be a completely collapsed external backdrop, which was causing wastewater to back up to the inspection chamber.

Further along the line, we also identified two severely displaced joints, where the surrounding ground was clearly visible through the pipe gaps. These defects were allowing wastewater to leak into the soil, washing away the supporting ground and contributing to surface sinking above the pipe.

⚙️ Immediate Repair Works

Due to the severity of the defects and visible damage to the surrounding surface, our team decided to act immediately to prevent further structural issues. We carefully excavated the affected section of the drain run and installed a new internal backdrop within the manhole, complete with access points for future inspections and maintenance.

The excavated area was rebuilt using suitable backfill materials, compacted in regular layers to ensure long-term stability and prevent further ground movement. Finally, we reinstated the surface with a new, level tarmac finish, restoring both functionality and safety for the customer.

💬 The Result

Our valued customer was delighted with the swift and professional service. They now have a fully functional, watertight drainage system with improved access for routine checks — and peace of mind that the area is safe and stable again.

At Flux Sewer Ltd, we take pride in delivering lasting solutions, not temporary fixes. Whether it’s a blocked drain in Ivybridge, a collapsed pipe in Plymouth, or a , our experienced team is ready to help 24/7.
