Bluelight Trenchless Drain Repair in Devon & Cornwall: A Homeowner’s Guide

If your drains are cracked, leaking or letting in roots, the last thing you want is your garden or driveway dug up. Bluelight trenchless drainage fixes many problems from the inside, usually through existing access points—so there’s minimal mess, faster turnaround, and less disruption to your home.

At Flux Sewer Ltd, we use Bluelight LED cured‑in‑place pipe (CIPP) lining. In simple terms, we install a flexible liner inside your damaged pipe and then harden it with a special blue LED light. The result is a smooth, joint‑free “pipe within a pipe” that seals leaks and restores flow—without major excavation.

How the Bluelight process works (step‑by‑step)

  1. CCTV survey & clean We start with a camera survey to locate defects and measure your pipe. Then we clear debris/scale so the liner bonds properly.

  2. Prepare the liner (“wet‑out”)A felt or composite liner is soaked with a blue‑light‑activated resin. It’s flexible and easy to position before curing starts.

  3. Install the liner The liner is pulled into place or gently inverted, then inflated so it sits tight against the inside of your existing pipe.

  4. LED light cure A compact LED light head travels through the liner at a controlled speed. The blue light triggers the resin to harden evenly, creating a tough, seamless new pipe.

  5. Reconnect & verify If there are side connections, we reopen them neatly. We finish with a CCTV video so you can see the finished result.

Where Bluelight works best

  • Homes and small commercial properties across Devon & Cornwall

  • Common diameters found in laterals (house to sewer) and other small wastewater pipes

  • Bends and transitions: The system can handle typical bends found on domestic runs

If a section has totally collapsed or there’s no continuous path for the light head, a small, targeted dig may still be needed. We’ll confirm this during your survey.

Benefits for homeowners

  • Less disruption: Most work is done from existing access points—your patio and lawn can stay put.

  • Speed: LED curing means we’re often on and off site the same day for straightforward runs.

  • Cleaner job site: No large boilers, steam hoses or water tanks.

  • Reliable quality: Controlled curing and a post‑lining CCTV video for peace of mind.

  • Built to last: A durable, structural repair that resists root ingress and stops leaks.

Signs you may need lining

  • Repeated blockages or slow drains

  • Gurgling sounds and unpleasant odours

  • Damp patches or sinkholes in the garden

  • Ingress of roots or visible cracks/joints on CCTV

What to expect on the day

  • Arrival & setup: We’ll park considerately and walk you through the plan.

  • Access: We usually work from an existing manhole or create a small access point if needed.

  • Water use: We’ll let you know if water usage needs pausing briefly during curing.

  • Clean finish: We tidy the area and provide your CCTV before/after video.

Local coverage (Devon & Cornwall)

We cover homes across Plymouth, Exeter, Torbay, Newton Abbot, Tiverton, Barnstaple, Bideford, Truro, Falmouth, Newquay, St Austell, Penzance, Launceston, Saltash, Tavistock—and everywhere in between. If you’re unsure, just ask.

Friendly FAQs

Will the new liner reduce flow? Only slightly in diameter, but the interior becomes smooth and joint‑free, so flow often improves compared with a rough, damaged pipe.

How long does a repair last? When installed to recognised CIPP standards and maintained normally, liners are intended to provide long‑term structural repair (measured in decades).

Is it messy ?We keep disruption low. Most work is done through existing access, and our kit is compact compared with traditional hot‑water/steam setups.

What if the pipe is completely collapsed ?If the camera can’t pass through, we may recommend a small excavation to replace the worst section, then line the rest to prevent future issues.

How much does it cost? It depends on length, diameter, access and the number of junctions to reinstate. We’ll give you a fixed quote after a CCTV survey.
